Q: What is playing dress-ups?
This is my official work photo taken when I first arrived at the University of Massachusetts in 1997 to become the Director of Foundation Relations. I have had a variety of jobs over my work history; for example, I have taught swimming to blind children, made maps for the U.S. Department of Interior, and researched, analyzed, written, and edited for many. Over the many years, I have also toyed with the thought of a lot of varied jobs. The first thing I wanted to be was a nurse. I've also imagined myself as a dancer, a foreign language interpreter, a librarian, a personal organizer, and an architect. More recently, I have considered a variety of unrelated things: being a doula (one who helps with births) or a stand-up comedian (I'm serious!), or doing international anti-poverty work, designing a clothing line for a group that has very special needs (to be revealed on Oprah), and if the stars all line up -- writing a regular column! |
