Beautius Maximus

That's exactly what I said as I came around the corner -- somewhere in magnificent New Zealand -- and saw a sight so incredible to behold that I had run out of superlatives. "Beautius Maximus!" I shouted with one arm extended, palm upward, fingers spread as if I could hold the beauty of the world in my hand.

When Jenny and I were traveling together for a couple of weeks, we had a day where we tried to find the right words to express our delight with every vision. "Beautiful!" "Splendid!" "Superb!" "Lovely!" "Incredible!" "Awesome!" and on and on. But sometimes what you see defies your normal vocabulary. Here are some sights in New Zealand that I found particularly Beautius Maximus.

This picture was taken while hiking the Queen Charlotte Track near Picton on the north end of the South Island.

Enjoy beautiful Lake Tekapo -- one of my favorites -- from the heights of Mt. John.

A picture of me (well looks mostly like my hair!) perched on a rock in front of Lake Pukaki with Mt. Cook in the background.

Another favorite lake -- Lake Wanaka.
